Chronic Yeast Infections Causes
Yeast infections can affect both men and women of any race. It’s not just a “vaginal infection”. It can affect other areas of the body; the throat, skin, genitals of both men and women and even can be systemic. The symptoms of a chronic yeast infection can be a burning and itching rash on the skin or genitals or a while film in the throat (thrush). Often such an infection can even have the faint scent of yeast. The causes of a chronic yeast infection can vary.
Bacteria
A healthy body will have bacteria present to help fight off systemic yeast infections. Many times when the yeast is to the point of being systemic, it may cause toxins in the body when the yeast dies, and one thing this can aggravate is a continued chronic yeast infection. If the yeast infection exists in the colon, it can enter the bloodstream from there causing an overgrowth of the parasites throughout the body. This keeps the infections recurring, or chronic.
Problematic Bowel Movements
When the bowels are not allowed to completely empty it can cause fecal impactions. This disturbs the environment in the large intestines. When this occurs, it causes the body to hold on to the impaction, instead of releasing it. Systemic yeast will form and it will be necessary to do a colon cleanse to get rid of the impactions and start a treatment to get rid of the yeast.
Clothes
Believe it or not one culprit of chronic yeast can be the very clothes we wear, especially for women. Wearing clothing that is too tight, especially surrounding the genitals, sets up a perfect environment for yeast to thrive and grow. Clothing such as swim suits, workout outfits, jeans that are too tight, that is worn for long time periods, creates the conditions that promote yeast growth. Such infections can show up anywhere on the skin.
Sexual Activity
One thing that can cause chronic yeast infection is sexual activity. If you have sex without using any protection, then any bacteria or parasite that may be on the other person will be shared in the exchange of bodily fluids. This is how sexual diseases are transmitted, but it is also how yeast infections can be spread. The reason this can set up as chronic is that one partner may realize they have the yeast infection, and treat it. But the partner may not, and when they come together again, the infection is spread all over again.
A weakened immune system can cause Chronic Yeast Infections. Weakened immune systems can stem from a number of reasons like having an illness, diabetes, HIV, AIDS, etc. If this is the cause the treatment also needs to be to help strengthen the immune system from the illness as well as the yeast infection. If you have a weak immune system, and treat the yeast only, it may go away temporarily, but will come back because the body’s defenses are down. Having a chronic yeast infection may give reason to getting a physical and finding out if there are other underlying causes to the infection.
